Service Description

Day 1: Marangu Gate (1860m) to Mandara Hut (2720m) Distance: Approximately 8 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Elevation Gain: +860m Details: The hike starts at Marangu Gate, and you pass through a dense rainforest with lush vegetation. The trail is well-defined and leads to Mandara Hut, where you stay the night. Day 2: Mandara Hut (2720m) to Horombo Hut (3720m) Distance: Approximately 12 km Hiking Time: 6-8 hours Elevation Gain: +1000m Details: You leave the rainforest and enter the moorland zone. The path is scenic with views of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Horombo Hut offers a more open and expansive campsite. Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut (3720m) Distance: Optional hike to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Ridge Hiking Time: 4-5 hours (round trip) Details: This day is used for acclimatization. You can take a short hike to Zebra Rocks (about 3 km) or a longer hike to Mawenzi Ridge. This day helps your body adjust to the altitude, improving your chances of reaching the summit. Day 4: Horombo Hut (3720m) to Kibo Hut (4700m) Distance: Approximately 10 km Hiking Time: 6-8 hours Elevation Gain: +980m Details: The trail ascends gradually through the alpine desert. You will pass the “Last Water Point” and continue to Kibo Hut, located at the foot of Kibo Peak. The landscape becomes barren and rugged. Day 5: Kibo Hut (4700m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) and descent to Horombo Hut (3720m) Distance: Approximately 21 km (6 km ascent and 15 km descent) Hiking Time: 10-15 hours Elevation Gain: +1195m (ascent), -2175m (descent) Details: The summit attempt starts around midnight. The trail to the summit is steep and passes through Gilman's Point (5681m). After reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, you descend back to Kibo Hut for a rest and then continue down to Horombo Hut. Day 6: Horombo Hut (3720m) to Marangu Gate (1860m) Distance: Approximately 20 km Hiking Time: 5-7 hours Elevation Loss: -1860m Details: The final descent takes you back through the moorland and rainforest zones to Marangu Gate. At the gate, you will receive your certificate of achievement.
